Boy Beauty: Sag Hag?

I have yet to overhear a woman compliment a guy's jeans--when said jeans are hanging off the dude's butt. From the loosie-tight hip hopper to the tightie-tight hipster, undies exposed beyond a waistband do not work. Let me say that again: do not work. I've seen girls' Facebook statuses devoted to the subject and participated in conversations about sad, sad saggers.

If you're a low-rider, here are denim styles for hip(sters) and hip(hoppers). But first, for the love of all that's good, pull up your damned pants!

Girls, if you're into boyfriend jeans and his look terrible on you (no worries we've all tried it), maybe you'll find something cute (and in your size):

Levi's 511 Men's Slim Fit

Diesel Thavar 880G Men's Skinny

Ben Sherman Men's Baggy

Superdry Foundry Men's Straight

Dial "M" For Masochism + Rejuvenation Mouth Facial

So sadistic: Bettie Page image courtesy of richardperez.net

The dentist. The gym. The laundry. The three things, that once finished, I feel great, but the process? Lame and painful. So of course it makes perfect sense that I'd squeeze all three tasks into the same day. I will say though, the dentist part wasn't the typical scrape, swish, and spit deal. I had a Rejuvenating Mouth Facial. Mmhmm, I know. Read on.

As I sat in the massage chair, the dental hygienist explained the steps of my Rejuvenation Mouth Facial and I compared it to any ol' teeth cleaning experience: clean (normal), polish (word), mouth bath (huh?), antioxidant gum mask (OK, officially unique).

The folks at Rejuvenation Dentistry had an hour of tooth and gum pampering ready for me (including, of course, the obligatory scraping). The mouth bath is made of Himalayan salt, which is enriched with iron and minerals and is way more healthful than American table salt. The antioxidant gum mask replenishes and hydrates the gum tissue while it boosts the mouth's immune system. I didn't even know the mouth HAD its very own immune system.

What...should I be in the corner with a dunce cap or something? I refuse to believe that's common knowledge...refuse!

Hot-As-Hell Style: What To Wear When Nudity Isn't An Option

I felt a wave of sweat pour down my back; I was standing still.

I contemplated articles of clothing I could remove without getting arrested.

When the thought of donning clothes led to major heat anxiety (literally walking around my apartment disavowing every sartorial option that came to mind, "no-no-no, you will burst into flames!"), I knew it was time to take action (i.e. create a quick list of summer-proof clothes and find a good therapist):

Lemlem Adama Dress ($245)

When I longingly ogled an older woman's moo-moo, I vowed to find a chic (and age-appropriate) alternative. The handmade caftan-inspired dress is called a beach cover up, but its lightweight fabric and light color are ideal for this little heatwave we're having. Plus, it was designed by supermodel Liya Kebede.

Kimchi Trouser ($59)

Über-tight jeans aren't an option when it's like 100 degrees. At a complete loss for suitable pants to wear, I would have reached for these polyester pants in a heartbeat. Please don't hate on polyester btw; it's machine washable and it never needs to be ironed.

Geren Ford Sheer Panel Dress ($320)

This dress is barely there and it also happens to be super pretty. Truthfully, I don't think you can bend down in it though.  But not for nothing, if you drop something, I'd suggest letting the universe have it; bending is a misuse of precious energy when it's Hades hot.

Yes, Yes Yall...To The Beat Ya'll: Tocca Sunscreen Towelettes Review

Tocca SPF 30 Sunscreen Towelettes

I'd never even heard of the Brooklyn Bodega Hip Hop Festival until last week, but luckily I did and attended with two of my road dogs.

By the time Q-Tip performed "Electric Relaxation" and Bonita Applebaum", we were jumping up with drinks in hand, and perhaps landing (very hard) on folk's flip-flopped feet. I was joyfully sweating, singing, and cool-girl head nodding. For the record, the "cool girl" thing vanished as soon as a very-very-surprise guest hit the stage (and I just about hit the floor). Wait till I tell you who it was...you're going to die.

Despite all of the jumping around, the Tocca SPF 30 Sunscreen Towelette ($28 for 8) I gave my friend stayed in tact leaving her skin silky, sun protected, and scented in the blood orange Stella fragrance. Not that I noticed (or cared) how my friend smelled; I was preoccupied with the thought of not being trampled by the crowd when I passed out in shock. Shock? Yes, read on.

When Q-Tip and Monie Love performed "Buddy" and Busta Rhymes hopped out for "Scenario", I was floored. Then Q-Tip asked the crowd twice, "Can we get much higher?". I was paralyzed with anticipation...disbelief...some other word that evokes intense emotion. Kanye West appeared on stage out of nowhere.

Remember what I said would happen if I was in the same area as him? Well, at least I wasn't carried away. And that's all I can say without damaging my street cred.

Video of the performance...still can't believe I was there!!

The Girl with the Pearl Necklace: Glamazon Summer Social

Before I even knew who Makeda was, I knew the necklace. And since spending quite a bit of bonding time with the glamazon, the knotted pearl necklace has been her accoutrement of choice time after time: brunch, dinner, countless fashion events, and apartment fetes. In fact, the only time the pearls didn't make an appearance was when we went running along the Chelsea Piers. Knowing her though, she probably wore them under her T-shirt.

Last week, some of my fave beauty & fashion bloggers assembled at Alma G salon for the Glamazon Summer Social. Makeda presented us with her most beloved summer products and introduced us to the super-charismatic owner of the salon, Alma. Alma gave us her handcrafted, essential-oil-based, hair boosting serum, Almatized ($50).

Behold, the truck-load of other treats to make your summer a "glamazonous" one:

I've been wearing these Lucky Brand sunnies ever since I walked away from the social. And the Knockarounds ($14) with moonshine lenses are on my list for this weekend. They're both lightweight, stylish and inexpensive. Three of my  favorite adjectives.

Wellies. Jellies. Stilettos? Typically, one wouldn't consider going out in a torrential downpour in high heels...unless they're eco-friendly and waterproof, Jean Paul Gaultier-Melissa Sandals ($143).

A part of me truly wants to reveal the location of a nail spot that offers $20 mani-pedis, but I just can't. I gotta' keep something to myself. I will, however, share with you the gorgeous Texas collection by OPI ($8.50) and the Braziliant collection by Essie ($8 each).

Makeda and Felicia raved about the anti-aging & brightening Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Facial Peel ($28 for 10 packets). It's the only facial peel on the market that contains five Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, Ubiquinone, Resveratrol, antioxidants, vitamins, and botanicals.

I haven't tried either the Redken Extreme Strength Builder Plus Fortifying Mask or the Extreme CAT Protein Mist, but I'm definitely excited to add some much-needed protein to my relaxed hair. You probably know that relaxed hair loses quite a bit of protein post repeated treatments.

And last, but certainly not least (literally and figuratively):

This Freshwater Pearl Necklace ($298, but appraises for $1000) features pink-to-peach pearls, is knotted in silk, and has a solid 14 karat gold clasp.

Survival of the Glammiest:
Ginger & Liz + Indique Glam Survival Kit

When I received an invite to the Glam Survival Kit launch party, my presence was a given. And not just because I was curious about the contents of said Glam Survival Kit. I have been obsessed with the hostess, beauty expert, Lianne Farbes' "soul hugs" from the moment I met her at Cocktails & Couture. Plus, I wanted to congratulate her in person for being one of the bloggers chosen to create her own limited-edition MAC Cosmetics Bloggers' Obsessions product! Of course I didn't remember to congratulate her, but hey, it's the thought that counts.

I did, however, help myself to a manicure featuring Ginger & Liz nail polish in Indique Pink (such a pretty, pretty color) that's included in the survival kit. But what else is in the kit?

The Glam Survival Kit ($458) features clip-in Indique hair extensions (choreographer Laurieann Gibson loves PURE Wavy btw) as well as the Indique Pink nail color. You can kinda' see the color in this pic of me and Christina, Ms. Love Brown Sugar, herself.

I had the most fun hanging with her and some of my other favorite beauty bloggers on the planet; and yes, DanielleFelicia, and Nikkia (to name just a few) are worth the hyperbole.

And *drum roll please*... the winner of the $100 Amazon Gift Card is Annabella Freeman. Please email me your contact information!
