Avon Advanced Techniques Tour Bus in Atlanta

Remember the super cute summer hairstyles from Tippi Shorter? Well Tippi and her crew have been on a tour with Avon and Cosmopolitan magazine to treat our humidified tresses. So far, they've hit up Atlanta, Miami, Philly, and Houston. And they're coming to New York on Thursday!

Similar to how a raindrop rolls off a lotus leaf, the innovative technology in Advanced Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield is said to repel moisture. And moisture equals frizzy, wild (in a bad way) hair, right?

I honestly haven't tried the product, but I did find this handy-dandy video that puts hair through a "Steam Torture Test". It gets an A-plus on the name alone. Check it out and tell me, are you convinced?

Maybe Monday's tip to combat humidified hair (wear a turban) was unrealistic. Since it's truly hotter than July, I got real summer hair style ideas from Ojon stylist, Tippi Shorter, who has hooked up the locks of Gaga, Rihanna, and one of my all-time favorites, Ms. Diahann Carroll.

Why not drink a gallon of water, sit atop your AC, and try one of these styles?

The Untidy Side Braid

Inspired by Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2010

Apply glossing cream to clean, damp hair to help prevent flyaways

Dry hair

Create a deep side part and direct hair to one side

Apply a conditioning paste/wax to mold hair

Start a French braid high on the head, keep it loose and casual by using three uneven pieces

Continue the side braid all the way to the bottom

Give the braid a slight shake to loosen it

Secure braid with clear elastic

Finish with shine spray

The Twisted Up-Do

Inspired by Jessica Alba's MTV Awards Red Carpet Look

Apply glossing cream to clean, dry hair

Separate hair into two sections, front to back

Gather back session into a high ponytail

Separate front section into three and secure middle section out of the way

Apply molding paste/wax to fingers and twirl one side section

Twirl to the ends of hair and wrap ends around ponytail, securing with pin

Repeat steps for other side

Lightly spray Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment Spray under final top section

Subtly backcomb section to create lift and height

Gently pull hair back and twirl the end of the section and wrap end around ponytail, securing with pin

Finish with glossing spray
